High-Efficiency Ultrafine Barite Powder Production Line in Kazakhstan

Project Background

Kazakhstan is one of the world’s richest regions in barite (BaSO₄) reserves, with major mining areas located in the southern Zhambyl and Kyzylorda regions. To meet the growing demand for API 4.2 grade drilling mud weighting agents, chemical-grade ultrafine barium sulfate, and high-whiteness barite powder for European coatings, a large local mining company decided to build a new high-fineness, heavy-duty ultrafine barite production line.

Core technical requirements:

  • Finished product fineness: D97 ≤ 10 μm (1250 mesh)
  • Capacity: ≥ 5 tons/hour (single line)
  • BaSO₄ content: ≥ 96%
  • Whiteness: ≥ 93%
  • Extremely narrow particle size distribution with no oversized particles (specifically for drilling fluid applications)

Process Solution & Equipment Configuration

Ultrafine-Barite-Powder-Production-Line1

The customer selected the full set of domestically manufactured Epic Powder ultrafine Barite Powder Production Line. The core equipment includes:

1. Primary Grinding Equipment

  • Model: Epic Powder Ball Mill
  • Liner/Media: High-alumina ceramic liners + zirconia-reinforced ceramic balls (specific gravity 4.6, 3× the wear resistance of ordinary ceramic balls)
  • Features: Low-temperature grinding, ideal for high-density (4.2 g/cm³) barite; stable product fineness of D97 = 9.5–10 μm

2. Secondary Precision Classification Equipment

  • Model: Epic Powder ITC Air Classifier
  • Classifier wheel diameter: 1000 mm, maximum speed 2400 rpm
  • Cutting precision: ±0.3 μm; thoroughly removes >15 μm coarse particles, meeting API drilling fluid specifications

3. Auxiliary Systems

  • Large pulse-jet baghouse dust collector (air volume 60,000 m³/h)
  • Automatic packaging line (25 kg and 1000 kg jumbo bags)
  • Fully enclosed negative-pressure operation + nitrogen protection (compliant with Kazakhstan ATEX explosion-proof standards)
  • Siemens PLC + remote monitoring system

Acceptance Test Results – August 2025

  • Finished product fineness: D97 = 9.6–9.9 μm
  • D50: 2.8–3.1 μm
  • Particle size distribution: (D97 – D10) / D50 ≤ 1.9 (very narrow)
  • Capacity: 5.3–5.6 t/h (maximum measured 5.9 t/h)
  • Whiteness: 94.2%–94.8%
  • BaSO₄ content: 96.8%–97.3%
