A mineral resource development company in Tanzania - Material
Talcum (Talc), a non-metallic mineral - Equipment Solution
Epic Powder brand Ball Mill - Core Challenge
To stably and efficiently grind and classify (or mill to the required fineness) raw talc ore to meet the demand for medium-fineness talc powder in the local ceramics, cosmetics, and coatings industries.
Expected Targets
Output: Stable at 1 t/h
Product fineness: D99 ≤ 20 μm
Tanzania is rich in mineral resources, and talc—an important non-metallic mineral—is widely used in plastics, paints, paper, ceramics, and cosmetics. The customer’s goal was to supply high-whiteness, high-purity talc powder to the local and East African markets.
The main challenges faced by the customer included:
- Meeting moderate fineness standards:
Target fineness is D99 at 20 μm. This is a medium-fine requirement that demands reliable grinding capability and suitable classification (when using open-circuit or simple classification) to ensure effective removal of oversized particles. - Ensuring stable output:
The customer needed the production line to maintain a long-term stable output of 1 t/h to meet continuous regional market demand. - Adapting to material characteristics:
Talc has low Mohs hardness and a unique lamellar structure. The grinding process must avoid excessive lamellation or over-pulverization to maintain good dispersibility and tactile smoothness in end-use applications.
Solution: Epic Powder Specialized Ball Mill for Talc Powder

Based on the mineral characteristics of talc and the customer’s fineness requirement of D99 ≤ 20 μm, we recommended and implemented an optimized Epic Powder ball mill solution.
Implementation Results
