Epic Powder’s Calcium Carbonate Grinding Plant Helps Libyan Client Efficiently Process 1200-Mesh Powder

Project Background

As the most widely used inorganic filler in modern industry, calcium carbonate fineness directly affects the added value of downstream products. Demand for high-quality micron-grade ground calcium carbonate (GCC) is rapidly increasing in the North African market. A major Libyan non-metallic mineral development company decided to enter the high-end coatings and fine plastic modification sectors. The client planned to build a new ultra-fine ground calcium carbonate grinding plant. The required finished product fineness was 1200 mesh. The target particle size was D97 ≤ 10 μm–12 μm. The client also required strict control of particle size distribution and energy consumption. The local environment features high temperatures and sandy conditions. After comparing global equipment brands, the client selected Epic Powder’s Ball Mill + ITC Air Classifier ultra-fine powder production line.

Core Pain Points & Technological Solutions

Ball Mill Calcium Carbonate Grinding Plant

For the large-scale industrial production of 1200-mesh calcium carbonate, Epic Powder has customized a “ball milling + classification” closed-circuit Calcium Carbonate Grinding Plant for its customers:

High-efficiency ultra-fine ball milling without compromising whiteness:

The plant utilizes an ultra-fine ball mill designed with a high specific surface area, equipped with high-purity alumina ceramic grinding media. Through the high-efficiency grinding and shearing action of the micro-media, micron-level pulverization is achieved. This ensures large capacity while completely avoiding iron contamination, preserving the pristine whiteness of the calcium carbonate.

ITC Classifier for Precise Cutting and Low-Energy Operation:

Material from the ball mill enters the ITC series ultra-fine air classifier. Its unique horizontal high-precision turbine classifier wheel generates an extremely strong and stable centrifugal force field. It precisely captures 1200-mesh fine powder (D97 ≤ 10 μm) and directs it into the collector. Coarse particles that do not meet specifications are automatically returned to the ball mill for regrinding. This closed-circuit process significantly narrows the particle size distribution and reduces energy consumption per ton.

Fully Negative-Pressure, Sealed Design:

The entire system features a fully negative-pressure, sealed design. This effectively prevents external wind and sand from entering and compromising purity, while also preventing internal dust from escaping.
