Project Background
A large chemical company in India aimed to enhance the performance of its plastic and rubber products by establishing a 50,000 t/year active ground calcium carbonate (GCC) production line. The project required a product fineness of d90 ≤ 10 μm with an efficient dry surface modification system. The core project requirements included ultrafine grinding, precise classification, dry modification, and environmental protection compliance.
Solution

Ball Mill and Classification System
- A combined process of ball mill + multi-stage air classifier was adopted. By optimizing the grinding media ratio and classifier parameters, the system achieved a narrow particle size distribution with d90 ≤ 10 μm and a classification efficiency above 95%.
- A pulse dust collection system was installed to ensure dust emissions below 10 mg/m³, fully meeting Indian environmental standards.
Continuous Modification Process
- A pin mill-type continuous surface modification machine was selected, using stearic acid as the modifier. Through high-speed mixing at 110 °C, the coating rate reached ≥ 98%, and product dispersion improved by 40%.
- The modified product was applied to PVC pipe production, where tensile strength increased by 15%, successfully passing customer verification.
